Jonah Parzen-Johnson

By Anthony June 22nd, 2015

Hailing from the Windy City but based amidst Brooklyn’s flourishing independent music scene, Jonah Parzen-Johnson is a solo saxophonist channelling the heart and soul of the American folkloric music tradition. Combining classic saxophone technique with lo-fi analogue synthesizers and a wonderfully left field aesthetic, this is music that is as honest as it is refreshingly original; it’s an evocative and surprising collusion of styles. Utilising depth, texture and slow-burning melody, Parzen-Johnson effortlessly creates a smoky American atmosphere. His debut release, Remember When Things Were Better Tomorrow, is out now.
